group) put up Ute money for the bonding. This would bring the obligation for bonding down to an amount
that would be more affordable and fair.
In light of the fact that all of the disturbance was done before mine reclamation permitting was
initiated 1960-1980 and done for other reasons besides mining, it hardly seems reasonable that reclamation
be demanded. The actual size of "disturbance" is only 1/16'" of an acre or less. All other disturbance has
been reclaimed, re-seeded and re-leveled (see pictures). As far as the buildings go, they can be sold, re-
located or otherwise disposed of at little or no cost, unless done by contract and then, the cost is escalated
to an unreasonable amount that is reflected in this bonding assessment. I need a second opinion.
The photographs and information sheets are included for those who are mineral collectors and those
interested in the pursuit of education. The mine site is an educational destination for groups of geologists
and mineral clubs from the School of Mines, University of Colorado students and DREGS (Denver
Regional Exploration Geologists Society).
I shall be out of town from November 10`s until mid-December. Should you need to reach me during
this time for clarification or communication, please use the above address and phone number. I will be
checking for messages and wiH contact you as soon as possible. It is my intention to re-meter my mine this
spring and look forward to having my permits and obligations in order by this time. Thank you for yore
time and attention to my appeal on this matter.
Sincerely,
Harry D. Covey
Phil Sheridan Lode, Owner
