Sand and Gravel Permit. After a long and involved
wetlands study for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers two
areas of wetlands have been found in the permitted acreage.
These two areas are delineated on the enclosed Mine Plan
Map and the Reclamation Plan Map. Upper Animas has agreed
not to disturb these two areas during its mining and
reclamation operations. Because of these wetland designations
Upper Animas would like to extend the settling pond across
the southern end of the permitted area. This will allow
for better water supplementation to the southeastern wetland
area. The mining and reclamation plans will remain the
same but will make every effort to protect and maintain the
existing wetlands.
The two high water channels delineated on the mine plan
map will only be mined during the operations.
If you have any guestions please feel free to contact me.
S~ e ely. ~~
Charles R. Ponchak for
Upper Animas Sand and Gravel
