Dear Mr. Hickman:
On December 23, 1996 the Division of Minerals and Geology considered your request for the
Deepe Pit, addressing the following:
1) Reduce the number of lakes on the reclaimed area from five(5) with a total of
38.1 acres of exposed water to two(2), with a total area of 4.2 acres of exposed
water.
2) Excavate a shallow drainage channel at the north end of the pit.
3) Extend the current channel on the east side of the pit to the south and west.
The Division has denied your Technical Revision request because the proposed activities
constitute a major change in the reclamation plan. Therefore, these changes should be
resubmitted as an Amendment to the permit.
