Box 980
Carbondale, Colorado 81623
RE: Snowmass Loadout Facility
Our File Number C-025-81
Dear Steve:
As I discussed with you in a telephone conversation on March 26, 1981,
the Division has decided not to issue a Notice of Violation for failure
to salvage topsoil and failure to follow the approved mine plan,
concerning the ramp built along the conveyor system to allow access for
a crane. I would like to emphasize, though, that the Division is still
very concerned with this problem since this is the same basic problem
for which the three (3) previous violations were written and that
failure to notify the Division of future changes in the mine plan will
result in the issuance of a violation. Also, extreme care must be taken
when this ramp is taken out to not damage the underlying topsoil. If
in subsequent inspections the topstY~l is observed to have been damaged,
a violation will be written.
The Inspection Report which was sent to you on March 17, 1981 noted that
a Notice of Violation was issued. A revised Inspection Report will be
sent to you shortly, with a compliance date of May 4, 1981 for the
removal of this ramp.
If you have any questions or comments, please give me a call.
Sincerely,
Jim Herron
Reclamation Specialist
JH/cjc
cc: Craig Sherwood
V~ti O J (;
i
