Mount
Mined Land Reclamation Division
Dept. of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO. 80203
De~sr Mr. Mount,
This letter is concerning the M Sims Gravel Company, East
Douglas Pit, Permit No. M-87-103. It is my understanding that on
Fels. 26, 1992 the M Sims Pit was put on a 30 day suspension.
During the suspension the M Sims Gravel Company is not allowed to
sell or transport gravel from the Pit. However, on Monday March
2. 1992 numerous dump and bellydump truck loads of gravel were
removed from the Sims Pit. The trucks ran in front of our ranch
he<idquarters, located on the East Douglas Creek Road, every 20 to
30 minutes for the entire day. The gravel was being moved by the
Aic> Blanco County personnel. You can follow this up by contacting
Ben Steele who is the couny road foreman for this area. His shop
nurt~ber is 675-8644.
It is not our
concern us. However,
to our problems that
(See the accompaning
also understand that
the State and BLM re
that he has tried to
intension to get into problems that don't
the Sims' have been very unsympathetic
have been caused by their gravel operation.
letter for a detail of those problems.) We
the Sims Gravel Co. has not closely follow
~ulations and we were told by the BLM
sell more gravel than he has paid for.
This letter is because of our concern for a need of better
planning for a gravel pit in this area. This infraction of the
suspension is gust one more reason that we protest the extension
of the M Sims Gravel lease.
Respectfully,
Wi` iam & Kathryn Barnard
f _ ~../ l.~ I L L, .,.
BAR 11 199:
Mined Land
