SHELTON, Director
October 28, 1987
Mr, Robert Hagen, Director
Albuquerque Field Office
Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement
625 Silver Avenue, S. W., Suite 310
Albuquerque, New Mexico A7102
Re: Response to Ten-Day-Notice No. X-87-02-244-4 - Hayden Gulch Mine
Dear Mr. Hagen:
The above referenced Ten-Day-Notice (TDN) cited two violations at the
Hayden Gulch Mine, one for a plugged culvert and the other for a crushed
dewatering pipe. The TDN's were the result of a joint inspection on
October 20, 1987.
These two items were inspected by a Division inspector on October 22, 1987,
At that time, the operator was in the process of replacing the crushed culvert
and cleaning the plugged culvert. Since the operator was repairing the
culverts, there was no violation at the time of reinspection. The Division
does believe an enforcement action is appropriate.
Please contact me, if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
It ,~ J
Sandra L.
