My comments and <br />information are presented in the same order as your comrnents. <br />1. Attached is the proof of publication of the public notice and copies of return receipts of a <br />Certified Mailing to all owners of record of surface lands that aze within 200 feet of the <br />boundary ofthe affected lands. <br />2. Attached is a revised Exhibit F -Reclamation Plan Map. This map has been revised [o <br />show the proposed topography and now meets the general requirements of Rule 6,2.1(2). <br />3. Attached is a revised reclamation cost estimate that reflects the proposed reclamation <br />plan. <br />4. Larimer County has expressed concern regarding the impacts to and on the identified Big <br />Thompson River floodplain and surrounding ]ands. Attached is a map showing the <br />location of the floodplain based on the most recent FIRM maps, The entire permit is in <br />the designated floodplain. Portions of this area flooded during the recent spring storms. <br />The applicant is not proposing to fill above the pre-mining elevations of the area. Pre- <br />mining elevations are based on the original "Excavation & Reclamation Plan" map and <br />the USGS quads for the area. Impacts to the adjacent floodplain will be minimal, if at a11. <br />The Division of Wildlife has recommended "...that as many cottonwood trees presently <br />standing on the southeastern comer of the site (next to the service road about ZOOm-300m <br />north of the Big Thompson River) be allowed to remain." Attached is an enlazged <br />portion of an aerial photo, taken in 1998. The trees to be impacted by the mining <br />activities are indicated. As you can tell, there are many more lazge trees along the river <br />corridor that will not be affected by the mining than there are trees that will be removed <br />due to mining.
