MWW6 PLAN (CONT)
NI®tD APRIL Z0~2
Elt-iisir D
The new area adjoins the north line of the existing permit
area, and is a rectangular area bounded by Frei family property
on the north, and east. By Clear Creek County lands on the west
and a 40 acre section owned by Bob Young in the southeast. The
north the permit line varies from 300 to 400 feet south of the
Frei property line and the east line follows the Gilpin/Clear
Creek County line. The mining setbacks along the west, north &
east lines will be 50 feet.
The newly added areas will be mined using the methods
described in the existing permit with the only change being the
mining backfillinq method used for the north slope area. The
approved blasting plan will be followed when mining in the new
area.
Ao-endment # 5 - MINING DIRECTION CHANGE
Under the existing plan mining progresses from west to east
on a north/south working face. This amendment requires a modifi-
cation of that plan. While the existing face will continue to
move east it will slow considerably, because the plan is to begin
to mine to the north and west into the new area. Exhibit con-
tains a site specific GEOTECHNICAL STUDY prepared by Revey and
Associates, Inc.. It will be used as a guide when mining direc-
tion is planned and implemented. The report contains a detailed
explanation of the direction mining should take place and recom-
mends actions needed when the final face location is reached.
Upon approval mining will begin on the vertical highwall
that has developed along the north side of the permit area. This
area appears as an unnatural ridge between the working mine area
and the next draw to the north. The plan is to lower this ridge
by expanding the existing floor to the north creating, approxi-
mately 7.25 acres of flat area along the north side of the mine.
This will remove the highwall, so the backdrop is a natural
4
