As both fills
have been completed, they are no longer under construction. Our understanding of the inspection
and monitoring requirements under Rule 4.09.1 and 4.09.2 is that monitoring is no longer
required following construction. Thus, this change eliminates monitoring for both fills.
Monitoring for the West Pit Fill will continue unchanged.
Also included is a tracking sheet listing these text changes. Note that the current permit text
discusses the Streeter Fill under Section 4.09, while the monitoring requirements for the Section
16 Fill are discussed in Volume SB, Exhibit 19.
We have atso reviewed the historical text discussion presented in Section Z.06 for the Streeter Fill
but do not see a need for changes at this time.
You will note that we have decided to leave the historic discussion of fill monitoring for both
Streeter Fill and the Section 16 Fill largely intact and have only modified the verb tense of this
discussion. Should you feel that this historical discussion is not needed, it could be removed.
With this change, the mine commits to completing a final report and map for both the Section 16
Pit Fill and the Streeter Draw Fill. These will be completed following, the 2006Q2 inspection of
both fills. These materials would be stored at the minesite with the other inspection reports but
not made part of the permit documents. Note that both the 6700 Streeter Fill well and the Section
16 Fill well are shown on Map 37 and both of these remain in the monitoring program. We
believe that annual monitoring of both piezometers is appropriate.
Antelope Mlne • Colowyo Mlne • Cordero Rojo Mlne • Jacobs Ranch Mine • Spring Greek Mine
=, member of the Rio Tinto Group
