Vegetative cover on pond slopes grows down to within a few
inches of water level, a level that is 11 inches below the
base of the dewatering device on 1June94. There is no
evidence that frost heaving, that has adversely affected the
culvert and riser in past years, occurred in the 1993-1994
winter season. The riser is clear of debris. The riprapped
outflow area from the culvert is in good condition and
exhibits no evidence of erosional modification.
The emergency spillway appears to be in its "as built"
configuration. Vegetation is beginning to grow in areas
between the flagstone riprap, and there is no evidence that
the spillway has functioned in the recent past. Revegetation
of the area disturbed by spillway installation is proceeding
satisfactorily.
The southern and western backslopes of the embankment area
are well vegetated and no rills or gullies disrupt this
terrain.
Yamaa River Sedimentation Pond
Vegetation on the inner pond slopes and the surrounding
areas is attenuated as compared to the other ponds on the
Meadows No.l Mine property. Apparently cattle graze this
area and utilize the pond for water. Nonetheless, no rills
or gullies are present in the area.
The dewatering pipe is clear of debris and the input is
about 8 inches above water level as of 1June94. The outflow
riprap appears unchanged from the August93 inspection. The
emergency spillway remains in its "as built" configuration
and shows no indication that it has functioned recently.
The eastern input culvert is clear of debris. Clastics,
transported down the ditch along the south side of the haul
road, have been deposited at the input of the western
culvert. Input capacity to the western culvert is diminished
approximately 50 percent due to this deposit.
The water depth marker teas been pushed aside.
If you Dave any questions concerning the above observations
don't hesitate to contact me at your convenience.
Respectfully submitted,
ne M.
