iii iiiiiiiiiiiii iii 999 Public Notice Mountain Coal Company (MCC), P.O. Box 591, Somerset, CO 81434, (970) 929-5015, has submitted a complete application for a technical revision of Reclamation and Mining Permit No. C- 80-007 to the Colorado Division of 1\Tinerals and Geology (CDMG), ] 313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 (303) 866-3567. The technical revision is for a new coal waste rock storage area to be known as the Refuse Pile Expansion (RPE) azea, a soil stockpile area to be known as the North Soil Storage area, and to widen the mine entrance. The RPE will be located to the east of Sylvester Gulch and will encompass approximately 20 acres. The North Soil Storage area is located on the north side of State Highway 133 directly across the mine entrance, and encompasses approximately five acres. The RPE and the North Soil Storage area are located within 100 feet of the outside right-of--way of State I~ighway 133. The permit area of the West Elk Mine is generally described as follows: Section 9, 10, 15-30, 34, 35, 36, Township 13 South, Range 90 West, 6th PM; and Sections 23-26, Township 13 South, Range 91 West, 6th PM in Delta and Gunnison Counties. This area is located on the USGS 7.5 minute Somerset and Bowe quadrangle topographic maps. A copy of the technical revision application is available for review at the CDMG office at the above address and at the Gunnison County Planning Department; 200 East Vvginia Avenue, Gunnison, CO 81230. Written comments or objections on the application must be submitted to the CDMG. A public hearing, for the purpose of determining whether the interests of the public will be protected by locating the RPE and North Soil Storage area within 100 feet of the outside right-of- way of State Fi~ighway 133, maybe requested by contacting the Division in writing within 30 days after the last publication of the notice.
