Progress Report 2 on Tatum House Subsidence issues Page 3
July 13, 1995
The Bureau of Mines is using some of their data collected from subsidence studies
conducted in the western United States to test the parameters used in the SDPS
software. They are using two or three mines that they have a complete set of data.
This information will be available later this summer.
As a further help I was directed to IC-9099 Surface Subsidence Ouer Longwall
Panels in the Western United States, a study at the Price River Coal Co No. 3 Mine
Utah. Although this study was originally designed to measure the effects of mining
two adjacent longwall panels, one panel was converted to a limited extraction room
and pillar before the study was completed. In fact mining stopped completely in
both panels before they were mined out because of a mine fire. As with the Allen
Mine significant subsidence was measured on the surface that is outside of the
influence of retreat or longwall mining.
