Long Orvision Director The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, Pazagraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on August 14, 2001, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. 2 Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. Approval of this revision will permit the constmction of a unit train loadout south of the present mining operation and allow for an increase in [he annual coal production from 5 million tons per year [0 6 million tons per year. The proposed train loadout constmction will include a conveyor belt system to transport coal from the present coal stockpile, over Old Highway 133, to a batch weigh loading system located above the railroad tracks. Also, there will be 11,855 feet of new railroad track conswction associated with the train loadout. Sediment control will consist of one sedimentation pond and several azeas protected by berms, silt fence and straw bales. The design capacity of the proposed sedimentation pond is 2.41 acre-feet. The pemvt azea will increase by 94 acres of private ]and, 32 acres of which will be disturbed acreage. The Underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles Northeast of Paonia, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 91 Wes[ of the 6th P.M. Portions of Sections 33 and 34, Township 12 South, Range 9l West of the 6th P.M. The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Paonia Public Library, l40 Grand Avenue, Paonia, CO 81428, and at the Division office.
