Our inspections have noted the safety concerns,
difficult conditions, and high costs incurred by Twentymile while attempting
to mine through the fault and up the steep dip on the western end of the
Eastern Mining District.
This modification affects maximum economic recovery of the federal coal
resource. The federal recoverable coal reserves will be adjusted as follows
on the three federal leases impacted. According to our records the federal
recoverable reserve figure for D-052547 was established in 1986 and was never
adjusted upward to include the steep grade coal. The federal recoverable coal
reserve number for lease D-052547.wi11 not change with this modification.
Lease Current Federal Reserves Revised Federal Reserves
C-54608 23,784,000 tons 22,042,000 tons
C-081330 14,410,000 tons 12,146,000 tons
D-052547 2,130,000 tons 2,130,000 tons
The Foidel Creek R2P2 Modification No. 6 is approved.
If you have any additional questions, please contact Jerry Strahan at (970)
824-4441.
%. / ..
' .~JohryE.
