it • • <br />First, the enclosed revised Order for Compliance (Order) as requested provides for an <br />extension from July 15, 2000, until September 15, 2000 for submittal of the Report required by <br />paragraph 2A.iv, and 2B. of the Order. This will allow for collection of the required 6-months of <br />hydrologic data from the site. <br />Second, as a result of EPA's conversations with Mr. Mehan of Wright Water Engineers, <br />Inc. regarding the "Plan", the following clarifications and requirements aze necessary in order for <br />EPA to approve the "Plan" as follows: <br />1. The Plan is designed to evaluate the impact of the entire slurry wall on wetlands, and <br />will analyze impacts to wetlands both inside and outside the mining area. <br />2. Any pumping water wells or other de-watering systems in the area will be identified <br />and considered in the overall hydrologic assessment of the azea as required in the "Order". <br />3. Two additional monitoring wells will be located outside of the slurry wall, west of <br />proposed monitoring wells WWE-4 and WWE-5 to further assess the up-gradient flow in the <br />area. <br />4. Proposed monitoring well (W WE-8) is necessary to evaluate the impact of the slurry <br />wall. The "Order" requires analysis of the impacts of the slurry wall, and requires that the <br />landowners allow Hall-Irwin access to the property to carry out the provisions of the "Order". <br />(Paragraphs 2 and 7 ofthe "Order"). <br />5. The existing monitoring wells are located outside of the slurry wall. <br />All questions that are technical in nature should be directed to Barbaza Conklin at (303) <br />312-6407.
