Battle Mountain Gold ~ ~ <br />Notice of Probable Violation <br />Abatement Requirements ' <br />(Permit No: M-88-112) <br />As abatement for the Notice of Violation issued to Battle Mountain Gpld (BMG) <br />on March 31, 1992, the Mined Land Reclamation Board imposed the following <br />abatement requirements, as proposed by the Division with amendments,~as noted. <br /> <br />,,, ~,,,,~„s (4) <br />(5) <br />(6) <br />(7) <br />(8> <br />(9) <br />(10) <br />(11) <br />(12) <br />Increase tailings area security. <br />Assess the environmental impact of the violation. <br />Accelerate frequency of tailings area environmental monitoring. <br />Cyanide detoxification of the tailings. <br />Develop a collection pond leak detection system effluent <br />containment plan. <br />Develop a cyanide detection, interception, containment an~ <br />remedial treatment plan. <br />Modify ore processing methodology. <br />Modify tailings area reclamation plan. <br />Modify tailings area environmental monitoring plan. <br />Adjust financial assurance, if required. <br />Develop a "critical path" project management schedule. <br />Modify water quality monitor sampling & analysis protocol{ <br />The Board issued the Notice of Violation & Order on <br />May 28, 1992. The Order contained the following: <br />"19. The Division, and any other party wishing to do so; <br />shall provide the Board with monthly reports at its regularly <br />scheduled meetings concerning the implementation of the measu~es <br />specified in the Abatement Requirements. The reports shall c n- <br />tinue until the Board issues an order to discontinue the repo ts." <br />
