' Water, Waste 8 Land, Inc. Statement of Qualifications <br />B-3 <br />WASTE PROJECTS <br />' Idarado (Idarado Mining Company) Telluride, Colorado (1985 - 1990)i <br />' Water, Waste 6 Land served as the lead consultant to provide technical <br />assistance to Idarado in response to litigation filed by the Stag of Colorado <br />under Superfund (CERCLA) legislation. The Idarado case has been the first and <br />only suit brought by the State of Colorado under Superfund legislation to be tried <br />in court. Water, Waste 8 Land was responsible for all aspects o the project <br />' related to surface and ground water quality, hydrology, and geotechnical <br />investigations. In addition to water quality and hydrogeology i sues, Water, <br />Waste 8 Land coordinated the work of experts in aquatic biology, toxicology, plant <br />' science, and geochemistry. <br />Technical assistance included review of State reports and procedures, and <br />' preparation of Defendants' response documents. Work also include preparation <br />for trial, assistance and participation in pre-trial depositions, assistance with <br />cross-examination during trial, and expert witness testimony wring trial. <br />' Background work included review of available records and data, as well as <br />collection of court-admissable water quality, vegetation, and other nvironmental <br />data. <br />' Water, Waste 8 Land also assisted Idarado in evaluating th engineering <br />feasib111ty of the proposed cleanup plans. Water Waste 8 Land conducted <br />' geotechnical and hydrological investigations and analyses, a d developed <br />engineering designs for proposed remedial action plans. Extensive urface water <br />sampling programs were also developed and implemented by Water, Waite 8 Land to <br />' address apportionment and for evaluation of remedial plans. <br />' Colony Oil Shale (Exxon Company, USA) Grand Junction, Colorado (19 <br />r 5 - 1989) <br /> Water, Waste 8 Land conducted a study for the proposed Co ny Oil Shale <br />' project, which included coordination of work from experts in severai disciplines. <br />Work included various types of testing to characterize the physic 1, chemical, <br />handling, disposal and reclamation properties of oil shale from the proposed <br />' process. The test results were summarized and evaluated by Water,~Waste 8 Land <br />and associate consultants. <br />' Water, Waste 8 Land also reviewed the conceptual shale wash pile design <br /> and designed a long- term vegetation test plot for the project. This design <br /> included construction drawings and specifications for plots on a 2.5:1 slope. <br />' As part of the test plot program, Water Waste 8 Land designe a weighing <br /> lysimeter, capable of weighing water changes due to preci itation and <br /> evapotranspiration in a 16-foot diameter test plot. <br />' <br /> <br />
