• ~r III IIIIIIIIIIIII'll
Mathews, Dan 999
From: Mathews, Dan
Sent: Monday, November 19, 2001 11:48 AM
To: Berry, David
Cc: Brown, Sandy
Subject: roadside
I had a message to call Stover when I came in this morning, and got ahold of him around gam. There have been problems
installing the piping for the new dewatering site over the weekend, and handling water in the mean time. They were
apparently trucking water to Minewater Pond 12 (originally constructed to retain North Portal minewater prior to discharge
from Site 004), which Stover said was a mistake because there were apparently cracks in the Pond 12 embankment, so
the pond did not hold the water. When I talked to Stover he said the situation was under control, but I asked him to meet
me out at the site this afternoon. So it looks like I'll be taking a little break from filing. I'll look at the dewatering site, Pond
12, etc. I'll be heading out there shortly, and will let you know what the situation is once I've had a look.
