1995 RILL AND GULLY MONITORING REPORT
Seneca 2-W and Seneca II Mines
Seneca 2-W Mine
During March and April 1995, Seneca Reclamation supervisor, Roy Kano walked over the
reclaimed areas at 2-W. Three areas to watch and three areas to fix were identified in the
reclaimed land.
To be fixed:
006 Drainage south of oil well site, NOV C-95-006
See TR and abatement plan
006 Drainage along newly reclaimed B pit highwall reduction
Re-grade and rip-rap where head cutting has occurred
Drainage from haul road at Neck Pit azea where water was pumped from sump.
Need to regrade and rip rap channel to virgin drainage.
To be watched:
Diversion 50 ft East of TS stockpile P2
Gully is l foot deep, however this is a temp diversion and will be regraded when
topsoil pile P2 is moved or enlarged.
Reduced highwall at B pit new revegetation. West of stockpile L
Fresh topsoil has 4-8" rill. If vegetation does not slow this erosion by next year
Seneca will channelize and rip-rap where appropriate.
Two yeaz old Revegetation East of TS stockpile P2. The rill which was regraded
in 1994 shows some erosion this yeaz. If revegetation does not stop this by 1996
Seneca will install contour ditches or channelize and protect this area as
appropriate.
CDMG/OSM inspection of Mazch 28-31 identified several areas where road drainage has caused
erosion ,these areas will be maintained as weather permits. Since only three azeas were identified
no aerial photo for 2-W is included.
