Lung <br />Derision Direcbr <br />RE: Bear Coal Company; File No. C-81-033; Technical Revision 23 <br />Dear Mr. Stover: <br />The Division has conducted a preliminary adequacy review for <br />technical revision 23 which was submitted to update the hydrologic <br />monitoring plan. As we discussed, there are a couple of minor <br />changes being requested which are listed below. <br />1. The Bear No. 3 Mine water monitoring location map that was <br />submitted with some of the Annual Hydrology Report responses <br />should be incorporated into the body of the permit document. <br />This could possibly be done on page 2.04-30t or u, which is <br />shown as 'intentionally left blank' in the Division's copy. <br />This is also in the groundwater monitoring section of the <br />permit application. <br />2. More information should be submitted on the exact location of <br />the USGS water monitoring station for the North Fork of the <br />Gunnison River along with an brief explanation of how the flow <br />data is obtained. If it is possible to place this location on <br />the water monitoring location map or a generalized area map <br />this should also be done. <br />Once we receive and review this information, and all other comment <br />periods have elapsed, we should be able to make a decision to <br />approve the revision. <br />If you have any questions, please contact me. <br />Si erely, <br />~j_~ `~. <br />Anthony J.
