III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Walker, Byron 999
From: Binns, Janet
Sent: Tuesday, May 16, 2000 12:15 PM
To: Walker, Byron
Cc: Hernandez, Dan
Subject: RE: Existing Mining Areas, North Thompson
Byron and Dan:
I looked at North Thompson Creek Mine Drawing D-3-18 (rcvd. 11/3/82) and correlated those areas
disturbed prior to August 1978 onto Drawing D-2-1 (rcvd. 4/27/83). The pre-law areas correspond to 3
small areas north of the road across the valley from portal No. 1. These locations on the map agree with
my knowledge of the site with the AML portion of the mine (the passive AMD treatment cell). Based upon
the information provided by the operator in the permit the Division could not consider the reclaimed
portions of the North Thompson Creek Mine as previously mined lands subject to Rule 4.15.10
revegetation success criteria. If the operator has additional documentation to verify that the North
Thompson Creek mine Portal No. 1, Porta! No. 2; areas and waste pile were disturbed prior to August 1,
1977, the Division would be willing to review that documentation. If you need anything additional from me,
please let me know.
----Original Message---
From: Walker, Byron
Sent: May 11, 2000 3:29 PM
To: Hernandez, Dan
Cc: Binns, Janet
Subject: Existing Mining Areas, North Thompson
Dan and Janet, Permit C-81-025, North Thompson Mines, has a Drawing D-3-18, Extent of Existing 8 Post Mining
Disturbances. It has areas marked Surface Disturbance From Existing Operations, and the map was received
October 15, 1982. Byron
