M-1979-158
Dear Mr. Oehler:
Thank you for your letter dated March 21, 2000, regarding the above. Please find attached our
"Party Status Request Form" propared and signed by me informing you [hat I be named as a party opposing
application to a new location regarding the above revision and proposal of the Mountain Shadows Pit
conversion application.
You stated in your letter that you are fully intbrmed of our primary concerns regarding the
District's application for renewal and that a revision is forthcoming removing Lot 14 from the application ,T",
Please know that ourLpiimary concerns revolve around the complete reloeation ojthe yuarry pit not t./
nearing any residential properly rvitkin a 5-mile radius
While the original application over twenty years ago may have been appropriate and necessary at
that given time, i[ reasonably cannot be appropriate at this time with the rapid growth of family residences.
Rye and Colorado City are experiencing a tremendous growth and the majority of our community share my
opinion [hat the growth can only continue. As a subcontractor, I see this growth week after week. Those
people selecting our community are doing so because of its pristine beauty and openness. While we could i
not stop the quarry from existing in the years past, it is our opportunity now to speak openly in ob'ectin = ar(ir~
relocation of the pit near our homes being a constant eye sore, as we a e roa s we travel on daily.
