~~
~. -,.
~~
-~
i,." , . '~
o;~; ~ -
EXHIBIT E -Reclamation Plan sio,~ j
Revised for Technical Revision February 2007 `k~p~~9a~~ ~4 ` ,n
.y
The following information pertains to the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology - Loveland
Ready Mix Concrete, Inc.; Larimer Pits: Permit #M - 1974 - 069.
The general plan is unchanged. The strategy is to leave a series of lakes and meadows
interconnected by landmasses for roadways, open areas, and areas for camping, hiking, and fishing.
Presently there are 11 lakes not including the area being mined and the additional proposed lake in
cell 10. The anticipated size of each lake is shown in Exhibit C and F. The reclamation time
schedule correlates directly with the mining time schedule contained in Exhibit D. The final
reclamation of each pit area is completed as the mining operation moves to the next pit. ]n addition,
reseeding will be done in twelve-month intervals for dust control. Therefore, any areas that need
seeding and not involved in mining operations will be reclaimed in approximate 12-month intervals.
For pond areas, the first 4 to 6 feet from finished grade to the expected water line will be sloped
at a ratio of 3:1 and to 10 feet below the water line. The remaining slope to the bottom of the pit will
have a maximum slope of2:1. (See the pit bank cross sections on Exhibit F.) Topsoil will be spread
to the water line and leveled with a motor grader prior to plowing, harrowing, and reseeding. The
maximum anticipated depth of pit 10 is 24 feet.
For the meadow areas, the entire slope will be finish graded at a slope with a ratio of 3:1 to the
bottom of the pit. (See the pit bank cross section included with this Technical Revision.)
Topsoil will be spread along the entire slope and the bottom of the pit, excluding the drainage
ditches. The topsoil will be leveled with a motor grader prior to plowing, harrowing, and
reseeding. The maximum anticipated depth of pit 8 is 16 feet. This proposed Technical
Revision will cover Cell # 8 consisting of approximately 18 acres. The same seed mix as
outlined below will be used for the meadow area and side slopes.
Storage Ponds # 1 and #2 have been sealed, lined, and reclaimed. Storage Ponds #1 and #2 have been
sealed in accordance with the Earth Engineering Consultants, Inc. lining procedure. Topsoil has
been spread approximately 6" deep over the shalestone down to the water line of the storage ponds
and seeded with grass seed as specified.
Close to 30% of ce118 has been mined. When finished approximately 13 acres will be reclaimed
as a grass meadow as described above. After ce1110 has been mined, approximately 5 acres will
become a lake and reclaimed as described above.
The settling ponds on the south side of the river are gradually filling with wash fines and are partially
reclaimed. As detailed in AM-1, Loveland Ready Mix is considering a plan to reclaim silt ponds 5
and 6 on the south of the river to wetlands. This concept planning is still in the preliminary stages
as feasibility has not yet been determined. The current reclamation plan for these ponds is to
partially fill them with washed fines, finish grade, place topsoil, and seed the area. When the mining
operation is completed, silt pond 5 will be filled except for a two (2t) acre pond and silt pond 6 will
be filled except for a one (lf) acre pond.
