Description of Operations and_Reasons.tor Con_vertinR Permit.
Mathias Concrete is currently operating a sand and gravel, end
ready-mixed concrete operation at this location, at present.
On June 9, 1969, the M. L.R.D. approved the succession of
OperaCOrS trom Douglas O'Bannon t0 Mathias Concrete. Tnc. Lie
have now owned this land for almost i years.
At present, our total operation, including concrete haechine
tacilities, is attecting 9+ acres of land. We have mined a l:oCal
of about 5 acres and have sloped, graded, and seeded i.5 acres in
.just rite last 'i years. 1'he remaining acreage (L.2 acres)
consists of our washing and concrete plant area. Ln the verv
near future (summer of 19921, we are going to request a
reclamation release for the reclaimed area ('i.5 acres).
Because our concrete operation is attectinQ approximar.ety 2
acres, and we are getting close to 9+ total "attecte~i" acres, we
are going to have to increase our permitted acreage to have
"reserves" and stock pile areas in the tuture.
Most of the additional permitted acreage (12.5 acres), which is
contiguous to present permit, will not be mined for several veers
and will remain in its natural state. Also, there will not be an
increase in "mining activity", but in order to secure reserves
for the tuture, we are going to apply for this permit, ac this
time.
Information on Enclosed_Meps and_Exhibits
After conferring with Jim Stevens, M.G.R.D. specialist for
southern Colorado, L was told that it would be permissable to use
original maps and exhibits that are a part of current permit now.
Therefore, the mining and reclamation mans, and exhibits R -
Wildlite, i - Soils, J - Vegetation will become part of this
permit application.
