Thompson Creek Mine C-025-81
Dear tor. Hagen:
The Division received your Ten-Day Notice referenced above on
August 20, 1984. The notice cited a failure of Snowmass to provide periodic
sediment removal at the refuse pond.
The Division's inspection of the mine the week of August 27, 1984 revealed
that the pond in question had been cleaned to the design capacity. The
operator had a licensed surveyor survey the pond to ensure it was cleaned to
design dimensions. A review of their monitoring records indicates that no
violations of effluent limits occurred from the pond.
In lieu of the above information and the fact that no violation was observed
by a State Inspector, the Division will not take enforcement action. We hope
this response resolves your concerns.
Si ely,
_ ~~-, /
F ed R. B to
oal Supervisor
cc: Bob Liddle
FRB/baw
Doc.
