Long <br />Division DireUOr <br />November 4, 1992 <br />To: Steve Shuey <br />From: David Berr ~q <br />Re: Revised Refuse Pile Diversion Designs - Somerset Mine - <br />C-81-022 <br />I have reviewed the revised refuse pile diversion designs submitted <br />by Jim Stover via the minor revision dated October 26, 1992 <br />(received October 28, 1992). The designs are adequate, and I <br />recommend approval of the minor revision application. <br />The designs previously provided as part of the midterm response <br />technical revision, and approved separately by the field minor <br />revision process overestimated the contributing drainage area above <br />the Somerset refuse disposal pile. The designs received October <br />26, 1992 correct this error. The oversizing was identified as part <br />of my previous field minor revision approval recommendation. <br />2 verified the predicted peak flow calculation (2.0 cubic feet per <br />second), and the culvert and ditch designs using SEDCAD3, and our <br />OTP ditch design program. The designs are reasonable; therefore, <br />I recommend approval of the most recent minor revision application. <br />
