BANTA, Dlrsetor
DATE: March 14, 1988
T0: All Coal Operators \ ,,_
FROM: tlichael Long, Coal Program Supervisory " ~ _
RE: OPERATOR MEETING, APRIL 15, 1988, CRAIG, COLORADO
For the past two years the USGS in cooperation with the Division has been
studying the erosional characteristics of reclaimed and undisturbed land in
Northwestern Colorado. The study is entitled "Geomorphic Stability of
Reclaimed Land Surfaces in the Green River Coal Resources Region."
This study has attempted to identify the dominant factors controlling erosion
in reclaimed lands. Possible future design parameters and mitigation measures
Have been considered. Because I believe this topic to be of particular
interest to coal operators, I have arranged for John Elliott to present a
summary of his findings in Craig on Friday, April 15, 198A. The presentation
will be held at the Craig Holiday Inn at 8:30 p.m. In addition, other topics
operators may wish to discuss will be addressed.
MBL/hm
6032E
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
