:. _ • -Z •
4. What is the sizing of the interceptor ditches shown on Figure 3?
It would appear from the map that riprap, or other appropriate erosion
control measures, should be considered for the interceptor ditch discharge
points.
5. What is the location of the proposed interceptor trench? This site
should be designated on figures3 and 4.
6. The water quality data submitted does not indicate the units of
concentration for the chemical parameters measured. Please clarify.
7. An evaluation of water usage downstream from the tailings dam should
be undertaken to determine who might be affected and the extent of .the
effects should be anticipated.
8. The approximate permeability of the alluvial materials below the
tailings dam could be determined by conducting a simple single-hole pump
test. This information would make predictions of flow rates through the
alluvium and projections of potential impacts to the hydrologic balance more
reliable.
The proposed remedial measures seem appropriately directed and we would
like to facilitate their implementation. I will be contacting the State
Engineer and the'Department of Health to ensure their awareness and
cooperation in these matters. If you can supply us with the names of
people in these offices who are familiar with this matter it would reduce
the possibility for confusion and delay.
Please keep me posted on your progress with this matter and feel free
to call on me if I can be of assistance.
Sincerely,
~~
Peter H.
