Responses correspond to the numbered <br />items in your letter. <br />1. Dennis L. Stevenson is no longer Director and Chairman of <br />the Board of Raven Mining, Inc., Canyon Coal Corp., and <br />Western Associated Corp. Attached please find his <br />resignation letter from Western Associated Coal Corp. and <br />written consents of the Board of Directors of Raven Mining, <br />Inc. and Canyon Coal Corp. electing the current officers of <br />these companies. The consents provide documentation that <br />Mr. Stevenson was not re-elected to the Chairman's and <br />Director's position. Thus, no resignations were tendered. <br />Mr. Stevenson has been elected Vice President of Peabody <br />Coal Company. The enclosed permit revision materials <br />reflect this change. <br />2. George S. Shiflett has been appointed Chairman of the Board <br />of Peabody Coal Company. The enclosed permit revision <br />materials reflect this change. <br />3. Frank A. Dunham has been named President and a Director of <br />Peabody Coal Company. The enclosed permit revision <br />materials reflect this change. <br />4. HM Holdings is the owner of Peabody Holding Company, Inc. <br />The enclosed permit revision materials provide ownership <br />and control information for HM Holdings and its parent <br />corporations. <br />5.
