TherevisionwassubmittedbyPicke[wireProcessing,LLC. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of f liltg. Due [o the delay in commencingcoal m iningopera[ionsatthe Lorenci[oCanyonmine (No. C-96-084) activitieshave temporari ly ceasedattheNewElkmine. Thisredtlcedhydrologicmonitoringplanwillbeconductedonlyduringtheperiodoftemporary cessation. To maintain continuity, frequency reduction was chosen over wholesale elimination of sites. The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately25 m files west of Trinidad, Colorado. The pens it area is further described as follows: Township 33 South, Range 67 West Sections 30 and 31 Township 34 South, Range 67 West Section 6 Township 33 South, Range 68 West Sections 13, 14, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 34, 35, and 36 Township 34 South, Range 68 West Sections I and 2 All sections are partially or fully projected by Basin Resources due to the unsurveyed nature of the Maxwell Land Grant. The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on [he USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Vigil. Because the above referenced technical revision application would incorporate additional lands into the perm it area or m fight othenvisealterpreviouslyapproved pemtit conditionsor mitigation measures, we are reques[ingyour agency's evaluatiat of the potential for impacts to threatened or endangered species of plants or animals, or wildlife species otherwise protected by federal law.
