EXHIBIT D -MINING PhAN
The information in the original permit application and this section are intended to satisfy the
requirements-outlined in Section 6.4.4 of the Colorado Department of Minerals and Geology
Construction Material Rules and Regulations.
A. Background
The original permit application for gravel mining The Shores site was submitted and
approved in 1998. The purpose of this amendment application is to obtain authorization
to modify the mining operation. The proposed changes to the Mining Plan are described
in this Exhibit. Hall-Irwin will mine approximately 221 acres of a 309-acre parcel
located in Firestone, Colorado. See attached revised Mining Plan map for specific
location to be mined.
B. Operational Methods
Hall-Irwin Corporation will continue to use the mining process and earthmoving methods
described in the original pennit application for The Shores. The only changes to the
Mining Plan are as follows:
1. Change Mining Sequence and Phasing: The original permit application describes
the mining sequence from south to north and then east to west. This application
proposes changing the mining sequence by mining south to north and then west to
east. After Hall-Irwin has completed mining in the pod adjacent to the processing
area, they will proceed north to phase 6, then mining pods to the east. Refer to the
Mining Map in Exhibit C for details.
2. Mined Area: The total mined area will increase to +221 acres of the 309-acre parcel.
Assuming current market conditions, mining the additional material will not extend
the life of the mine.
3. Earthmoving: Sand and gravel will be excavated and transported to the processing
area by haul trucks and/or conveyors.
4. Annual Productiou: The annual production rate will be increased. The production
rate will range from 400,000 to 800,000 tons per year.
5. Equipment: The following changes will be made to the equipment on-site. All other
equipment remains the same.
a. Scraper - 2
b. Dozers - 2
c. Mechanic Trucks - 3
d. Water Truck - I
5. Wash Pond: Hall-Irwin is allowing the original wash pond to fill with silt and
become a wetland area. The operator has created new wash ponds immediately north
HALL-IRWIN CORPORATION -THE SHORES AMENDMENT 1 (#M-1998-013) Page 12 of 29
