~'

and wonder whether you were aware of it; and, if not, whether knowing it would have
affected the nature and scope of your comments. It seems from what Mr. Dillie tells me
that the materials which the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Colorado Division of
Wildlife actually submit with respect to the permit amendment application may come to
constitute the whole of the quarry's "plan" regarding the Mexican spotted owl, as well as
other wildlife impacted by the quarry expansion. It is therefore all the more critical that
you provide the Division of Wildlife with any information, recommendations, or
comments regarding owl monitoring or preparation of a habitat conservation plan which
you feel should be incorporated into a plan to protect the Red Canyon population of
Mexican spotted owls.
Sincerely,
~~~
James E. Lockhart, Chair
Pikes Peak Sierra Club Group
cc: James Dillie. DMG
