Today I
am writing to you in regard to the above application to expand an existing permit. While
I am totally in support of mining and natural resource recovery in general, as highlighted
by two of my three children graduating from the Colorado School of Mines, I believe that
Summit County in general and specifically the Swan River Valley has moved beyond this
activity today.
Summit County history is full of mining tradition, but today Summit County is a vibrant
tourist and recreation based economy. The Swan River Valley, especially, with its 27
hole golf course has become the highlight of a visit to the county.
I believe the county needs to honor the permits in place but an expansion of an existing
permit, in my opinion, runs totally contrary to today's Summit County objectives.
Sincerely, ~
I ~J
K.
