RE: Additional Information-for Acr g Release Request; Holcim (US) Inc.;' <br />Holcim Boettcher Mine; M-' 1977-34 ~ ~~, <br />Deaz Mr. Mount: 1/ <br />The following information is being submitted on behalf of our client, Holcim (US) Inc. for the <br />Boettcher Mine operation (lv1-1977-349) located 2 miles north of LaPorte, i_n Lazimer County, <br />Colorado. This letter and the attached information is. in addition to .the original submittal <br />materials dated August 29, 2005 and' is in response to your site visits of October 3, 2005 and <br />October 25,2005..The attached information includes details regarding erosion protection work <br />.performed within the potential acreage release azea_azid a revised release azea map.. <br />Erosion Protection:- Erosion protection work was performed at two locations along the northwest <br />side of "the acreage. release "boundary (see attached Headcut Erosion Protection Sheets): The <br />locations include" ephemeral drainage gullies that had begun to headcixt beneath the 3-strand <br />_ barbed wire fence just east of the haul road. The -first location is east of the haul road near the - <br />northern end of Mining` Cell A6 and includes- two narrow headcuts that merge into the same <br />gully. The second location. is located just south of the' first location-and- includes one. wider <br />headcut azea. <br />Erosion protection-to stabilize the drainage gullies was. provided as described on the attached- <br />- Headcut Erosion Protection - As Constructed Sheet: "-The erosion protection was previously <br />'designed' according to -Urban Drainage and Flood Control District; (UDFCI)) criteria in the <br />absence of available standard engineering practices and criteria that would be more applicable to <br />the reclamation land use alid potential impacts ofthe headcut erosion. `As previously presented, <br />the LJDFCD criteria:=were established -for urban land uses and, aze considered conservative. to <br />.assure the protection of urban structures and-human safety.
