SECTION 02200.0 EARTHWORKS <br />PART 1: GENERAL <br />1.01 SUMMARY: <br />This SPECIFICATION describes site preparation, excavation, stockpiling of soils for. <br />earthwork if necessary, and placement of Structural FiII, Select Structural Fill, Coarse <br />Shaft Backfill, Underdrain Fiil, Leak Detection Fill, Soil Liner Fill, Drain Cover Fill, Fine Shaft <br />Backfill, Pipe Bedding Material and Granular Filter Material for the Phase III heap leach <br />facility. <br />1.02 RELATED SECTIONS: <br />Refer to the following Sections for related work: <br />Section 01050.0 -Staking and Construction Certification Documentation <br />Section 02776,0 - Geomembrane <br />Section 02777.0 - Geotextile <br />1.03 TOLERANCES: <br />A. Limits of excavation, Structural Fill, Select Structural Fill, Coarse Shaft <br />8ackfill,Underdrain Fill, Leak Detection Fill, Soil Liner Fill, Drain Cover Fill, Fine <br />Shaft Backfill, Pipe Bedding Material and Granular Filter Material far the Phase III <br />valley leach facility are defined by the lines and elevations shown on the <br />DRAWINGS. All fill shall be placed to [he minimum thicknesses shown on the <br />DRAWINGS. <br />B. Finished grades shown on the DRAWINGS are given in feet, and shall slope <br />uniformly between given spot and contour elevations, without sag or humps. All <br />grades shall provide for natural runoff. <br />C. The Soil Liner Fill shall have a minimum thickness of 1.0 foot. <br />D. The Drain Cover fill will have a minimum thickness of 2.0 feet at all times. <br />E. Clearance of pipes with respect to regulated boundaries will be checked by <br />MANAGER. If clearances ara inadequate, CONTRACTOR shall Backfill trenches to <br />compaction SPECIFICATIONS and relocate trenches at CONTRACTOR'S expense. <br />F. Cortection of overexcavation and backfilling shall be to CONTAACTOR's account. <br />1.04 QUALfTY ASSURANCE: <br />A. All work shall be monitored and tested in compliance with the requirements of the <br />CQA Plan. <br />B. CONTRACTOR shall be aware of all testing activities outlined in the CQA Plan, and <br />shall account for these activities in the construction schedule. <br />C. All COA soils testing (both field and laboratory testing! will be the responsibility of <br />CERTIFYING ENGINEER, as identified in the Earthworks COA plan.
