PROJECT DESCRIPTION
46KV POwERLINE
This right-of-way project description is for a 46 KV powerline,
CWI anticipates usiny approximately 60 foot high poles spaced at approximately
every 400 feet, The line would be constructed in two segments with one angle
change, CWI anticipates construction using single poles with a few double (H
frame) structures required, Some temporary construction roads may he required
to access the pole locations. CWI would disturb as little of the area as possi-
ble, Where a trail must be built, CwI would scarify and revegetate that area
after use, The construction would use conventional powerline equipment and
techniques, Backhoes, trucks, and auger trucks would be used,
In total, the 46 KV powerline will be approximately 8,000 ft, in length and lo-
cated on a right-of-way of 50 feet wide, Part of the powerline would cross Cwl
property and the right-of-way would he separated into two distinct sections.
Approximately 6,000 feet of the powerline would cross public lands south of the
Lease NC-31210 boundary, The new powerline would begin at the existing 46 KV
powerline constructed to Orchard Valley Mine, The eastern portion of the right-
of-way would be located in Section 24, It would be approximately 2,000 ft, long
(approximately 1,300 feet on public lands) and run in a generally west direc-
tion, At the north boundary of Section 25, the powerline would cross into CW]-
owned surface property, The alignment would then change and run in a northwest
direction toward the proposed Orchard Valley West facilities, It would cross
Section 24 and enter Section 23, This northwest line would he approximately
6,000 ft, long to the proposed mine site, though this segment of the R,O,W,
would end at the southern boundary of Lease kC-37210 and be approximately 4,700
feet in length,
Cw] currently projects that the powerline would be required for 25 years, ]f
the coal reserve has not been exhausted, additional time would he necessary,
The powerline once constructed, would be utilized 365 days per year, 24 hours
per day,
The powerline would supply Orchard Ualley West Mine facilities with electrical
power to run a ventilation fan, on an interim basis coal handling facilities,
and a small shop 8 warehouse,
it is anticipated that construction of a powerline would last approximately 4 to
6 weeks. The construction phase would entail construction surveys, temporary
roads where necessary to access pole placement locations, actual pole placement
construction, hardware added to poles, and finally completion of the powerline.
Temporary work areas needed for construction would be located on CWI-owned sur-
face properties.
