Specific information
apparently not on file a[ the mine office includes quarterly refuse inspectioris , an
updated sediment pond certification, a current certificate of public liability
insurance, and a haul road certification.
The steps necessary to abate the violation are specified to include the following actions:
Ensure current engineering certification for the sediment pond, refuse pile and
haul roads, and a Curren[ certificate of insurance are submttted to'the Division
and placed on file at [he mine office. An alternative to submittal of haul) road
certification can be submittal of a revision to re-classify the haul road. I
an
In response to the requirement for pond certification, EFMC contracted a registered land
surveyor (Mincic Survey[ng) to survey the pond. After reviewing the survey, discrepancies were
noted between the exis[ing pond and pond designs. EFMC is [n [he process of reviewing the
pond design and developing required modifications to address [here discrepancies. On or before
June 25, 1993, EFMC will submit a Technical Revision (TR) detailing any required changes [o
the pond design.
Upon approval of the pond designs, EFMC will make all required modifications to [he ond.
During and uQon completion of modifications, the pond will be inspected and certified by a
Colorado Reg[stered Engineer, i
This abatemen[ approach should effettively address the part of NOV C-93-47 dealing with the
need for a pond certification. Please feel free to contact me if you have any ques[ions or require
clarification relative to the abatement approach. We appreciate your consideration and
assistance. ~
Sincerely,
Gr'-1~ov+.~--
~'o~ Allen S. Weaver
Mine Engineer
cc: A. Weaver
R. Acre
P.
