The last set of ground water analyses that
have been received by the Division are from a sampling event that
occurred on March 16, 1996. Please provide the data from the second,
third, and fourth quarters of 1996, and the first quarter of 1997, no
later than May 15, 1997. Please also assure that the caps on the
monitoring wells remain locked at all times; this will be a topic for
the Division's next inspection of the Gold Hill Mill.
In reviewing the ground water monitoring data for the Gold Hill Mill
from past sampling events, the Division has found that the data is
inconsistent in terms of parameters analyzed and laboratory detection
limits employed. For the second quarter of 1997 sampling event, and
for all future sampling events, the Division will require that the
following table of parameters and detection limits be employed:
PARAMETER DETECTION LIMIT, ua/L
Aluminum 50
Arsenic 1
Cadmium 0.25
Chromium(VI) 10
Copper 5
Iron 10
Lead 5
Manganese 4
Mercury 0.2
Selenium 1
Silver 0.2
Uranium 10
Zinc 8
