Sanborn Sand & Gravel
EXHIBIT E -Reclamation Plan
Currently the land is listed as Range Land with the reclamation to return the property to
range land. Because of new developments it is proposed that two reclamations plans be
placed on the application.
Plan 1 -Reclaim to Ran eg Land
As each pit or cut is backfilled, it will be graded to match the surrounding topography.
Average slopes will not exceed 3:1.
As mentioned in the DMG report filling a high wall in the Southeast comer is a concern.
Currently, an approximate amount equaling 40,000 yards of waste materials stored by the
previous owners is stored on the southeast comer. This material consists of clay, cobbles,
and sands. It will be dozed in started in the southeast comer and worked along the
southern line of the high wall. Estimates suggest that with the current shape and slope of
the mining area less than 50,000 yazds of material will be needed to fill this azea to a 3:1
slope. An additional two azeas containing waste of the same type of material are located
on other areas of the property. These sites contain approximately 10,000 yards.
Topsoil in the area varies in depth from 2 inches to 2 feet. Sufficient topsoil will be
salvaged from the disturbed areas to provide a cover of 6 inches. The topsoil will be
stored in long, narrow windrows to provide a better growth medium for microorganisms.
The proposed re-seeding rates are for drilling and will be doubled if broadcast on
disturbed areas. The following seed mixture is proposed:
SPECIES RATE*
Arizona Fescue I.5
Pubescent Wheat grass 3.0
Hard Fescue 1.0
Western Wheat grass 3.0
Western Yarrow .5
Rocky Mountain Penstomen .5
Russian Wild rye 2.0
11.5
*Seed rate in pounds of pure live seed.
