Sanborn Sand & Gravel
EXHIBIT uD" - Mining Plan
The Gloria Z Mine is located on private land approximately one mile west of Fairplay,
Colorado. The azea surrounding the property has been mined in the past, and several test
pits aze visible on the ground.
Mine Plan
Access to the property from Fairplay is on Colorado Highway 9 to Park County Road 14
to Platte Drive. Roads to the property are maintained by Park County.
In a report done by Chazles Spielman in November of 2001, a test was performed by the
Colorado School of mines to determine the depth and aggregate reserves remaining on
the property.
This report indicated that estimated depth of the deposit is around 180 feet and a depth to
the groundwater table of about 60 feet. This would allow for the ultimate planned bottom
elevation be between 9950 and 10,020. As well he indicated that the type of products
that could be expected in this area would topsoil, clay, sand, gravel, cobbles, and
boulders. (Attached is a copy of this report to be used for information purposes
only.)
The placer deposit is located in glacial till, which can be easily mined by an open pit
method. Currently the mine is taking material from the middle of the original disturbed
18 acres with a focus of reclamation to continue from the southeast comer toward the
northwest. Starting in spring of 2004, material will be pulled from the new permit area
and have material flow to the processing facility from two drrections. Each area will be
mined to a depth that is economically feasible. The 4.61 acres will not be mined at this
time, it is being included to the permit area due to its close proximity to the equipment in
the area.
Major structures include an office trailer, truck scales, screening equipment, washing
equipment, crushing equipment, trailer for cazetaker and night watchman.
A front-end loader or dozer will be used to strip the topsoil from the azeas to be affected
and stockpiled for later reclamation. Front-end loaders, track excavators and dozers will
move the unprocessed material to the processing facility. The mining rate will be
approximately 2000 tons per day. Water is supplied from the Sacraniento Creek, the
water is purchased from an 1864 water right in the Westerman Ditch. All water used in
processing is contained and recycled in storage ponds. All rain and run off waters are
channeled into the storage ponds from the pit azea and an additional final catch basin at
river level for safety. No ground water will be encountered.
