Lung <br />Division Di~eaor <br />Re: Roadside and Cameo Mines (Our File No. C-91-041> <br />Technical Revision No. 15 (Contemporaneous Reclamation of CRDA Nos. 1 and 2) <br />Dear Mr. Morris: <br />Pursuant to Title 34, Article 35, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, <br />the Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice that on March Z4, 1993, <br />a technical revision application for a permit to conduct coal mining operations by <br />Powderhorn Coal Company, P.O. Box 1430, Palisade, Colorado 61526, was deemed <br />complete for the purposes of filing. Ail reviews and comment periods as provided <br />in the Act and Regulations promulgated thereunder initiate from this day of filing. <br />The applicant proposes to revise underground coal mining operations at the <br />Roadside and Cameo Mines. The proposed revision includes a timetable for the <br />completion of cover requirement field trials at the Roadside Refuse Disposal Area <br />and for initial contemporaneous reclamation on the lower benches of the Cameo <br />Refuse Disposal Areas Nos. 1 and 2. The mines are located approximately three <br />miles northeast of Palisade, Colorado. The permit area is encompassed within the <br />following lands: <br />T 10 5, R 98 W, 6th P.M.: Sections 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, <br />29, 34, and 35 <br />T 11 S, R 98 W, 6th P.M.: Sections 1, 2, 11, 12, 13, and 14 <br />T 11 S, R 97 W, 6th P.M.: Sections 6, 7, and 18 <br />T 1 S, R 2 E, Ute P.M.: Section 1 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of <br />Cameo and Palisade. Lands to be affected by this proposed revision lie in: <br />T 10 S, R 98 W, 6th P.M.: Sections 28 and 34. <br />Because the above-referenced technical revision application might alter previously <br />approved permit conditions or mitigation measures, we are requesting your agency's <br />evaluation of the proposal as it relates to fish and wildlife considerations, <br />including potential impacts to threatened or endangered species. <br />STATE OF COLORADO <br />A copy of the technical revision application is enclosed.
