Technical Revision No. 15 (Contemporaneous Reclamation of CRDA Nos. 1 and 2)
Dear Assistant Supervisor:
Pursuant to Title 34, Article 35, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes,
the Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice that on March 24, 1993,
a technical revision application for a permit to conduct coal mining operations by
Powderhorn Coal Company, P.O. Box 1430, Palisade, Colorado 81526, was deemed
complete for the purposes of filing. All reviews and comment periods as provided
in the Act and Regulations promulgated thereunder initiate from this day of filing.
The applicant proposes to revise underground coal mining operations at the
Roadside and Cameo Mines. The proposed revision includes a timetable for the
completion of cover requirement field trials at the Roadside Refuse Disposal Area
and for initial contemporaneous reclamation on the lower benches of the Cameo
Refuse Disposal Areas Nos. 1 and 2. The mines are located approximately three
miles northeast of Palisade, Colorado. The permit area is encompassed within the
following lands:
T 10 S, R 98 W, 6th P.M.: Sections 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28,
29, 34, and 35
T 11 S, R 98 W, 6th P.M.: Sections 1, 2, il, 12, 13, and 14
T 11 S, R 97 W, 6th P.M.: Sections 6, 7, and 18
T 1 S, R 2 E, Ute P.M.: Section 1
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of
Cameo and Palisade. Lands to be affected by this proposed revision lie in:
T 10 S, R 98 W, 6th P.M.: Sections 28 and 34.
Because the above referenced technical revision application might alter previously
approved permit conditions or mitigation measures, we are requesting your agency's
evaluation of the potential for impacts to threatened or endangered species of
plants or animals, or wildlife species otherwise protected by federal law.
