The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology is proposing to approve a renewal application for coal mining and
reclamation permit. The application was submitted by Bear Coal Company, Inc. on January 21, 1997 for the Bear
Mine. In accordance with Rule 2.07.4(2)(c) of the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation
Board for Coal Mining, we are providing notice of this proposed decision.
Any person with an interest which may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a formal hearing
before the Mined Land Reclamation Boazd within 30 days of the first publication of this notice by the Division
in [he Delta County /ndependent.
The underground mine is located near the town of Somerset, Colorado. The permit area is further described as
follows:
Portions of Sections 8, 9, and 15; all of Section 16; portions of Sections 17, 18, 20, and 21 Township 13 South,
Range 90 West of the 6th P.M.
Copies of the renewal application aze available for public review in the Division offices at the above address
and at the Gunnison Counry Clerk and Recorders Office. Copies of the Division's "Proposed Decision and Findings
of Compliance" are also available at those locations.
