" MINED L~WILDLIFE STATEMENT/EVALUATIO~Revised) <br />for limited .impact and select regular minelapp~ica[i as --E_2~4_4$4_5I?__ <br />The following information pertaining to wildlife is provided for use by Mined Land <br />Reclamation Board in their consideration of a mining permit for: <br />Valco Sand and Gravel, 1'o Box 857, Pueblo Colo. 81UU2 <br />Name/Type and Location of Mine (Legal) <br />Wildlife Species list: lleer, Iced-'f'ail liax•k, Great Horned Owl, Bull snake, <br />Prarrie rattle snake, asst. Song birds, Fox, Coyote, Great Blue Heron, <br />hater Fowl, <br />Endangered/critical species/impacted: IDne known , <br />Critical habitats/vegetative communities impacted:Riparian habitats along il~e <br />Arkansas river. <br />Assessment of impact: Impact of the Riparian habitat can be mitigated if <br />reclamation recommentaions will be followed, along with a agrressive re- <br />seeding program. <br />Mine Reclamation recommendations (include key species/habitats for which restoration <br />is designed). If possible all older Cotton wood trees should be left intact. <br />All top soil and overburden removed should be stored in piles with 3:1--slope. <br />This soil can be used for future seed bed prepartion. All pond banks stiould <br />be groomed to a 3:1 slopes. Native grasses should be punted as recommenecl <br />by the S.C.S. The pond shapes should be various sizes and some with undulatir <br />shore lines, others should be dumb bell shaped this would Delp +vith erosion <br />along the shore lines:fhe Bank heigHt should vary ivith at least half of the <br />be less that two feet aboti>e the water level. If possible some islands shoulfl <br />be created some re-seeded others lei't bare. I would recommed limit~droad <br />access and re-seed roads that had to be created.
