Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
I am requesting your assistance in the adequacy review of Permit Revision No. 9 (PR-9), which was
submitted by Bowie Resources LLC (BRL) for the Bowie No. 2 Mine. In PR-9, BRL is proposing to
revise the B-Seam 5 yeaz mine plan by adding a third longwall panel in the west district and realigning
longwall panels and entry ways in the north district.
I am requesting that you review these proposed revisions and make sure that the operator's ground
water monitoring program will still be suitable. Attached is one complete copy of PR-9. I have also
included approved Map 9 and Map 14-B so that you can compaze the proposed changes to what is
already approved. As a note, approved Map 9 needs to be revised to show the PR-9 mine workings. If
you need additional information, please let me know.
The revision was called complete on June 13, 2005. The Division's adequacy review letter is due
August 12, 2005. If I could have your comments back by August 5, 2005, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for your assistance.
Attachments
cc: Sandy Brown (without attachments)
c:/word/bowie2/pr9memo2
ice of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
