...;
PQabody
Twentymile Coal Company 29515 Routt County Road #27
Oak Creek, CO 80467
970.879.3800
The azea between refuse placement azeas 2 and 3 is a low Swale, designated as Area 2.5. TCC has worked
to move the coal waste materials temporarily stockpiled in Area 3 into Area 2.5, in order to: 1) Get the
temporarily stockpiled material into a fmal placement location and a stable, compacted condition; 2) Level
this area as an extension for Area 2 fill placement; and 3) Uncover the underlying suitable clay materials
for use as cover material in reclaiming completed portions of the refuse pile. Given the relatively short
distance (200'-600') and downhill grade between the Area 3 temporary stockpile location and the Area 2.5
final placement location, TCC has utilized D10-G tracked dozers to move the refuse material.
Given these considerations. TCC submits that the reclamation bondine calculations (Task 9011
should be revised to reflect final movement of only the 80,000 cv of material currently temporarily
stockpiled in Area 3 and can be significantly reduced by using the downhill dozer push to Area 2.5
averaEe distance 400'1, consistent with current actual ooeratlna practices.
Costs Associated with Compaction of 1.OMM Cy of Refuse from Temnorarv Stoclmile Area - $37,360
Similarly, the calculation for compacting the material from the temnorarv stockpile (Task 9021
should be revised to reflect the actual reduced volume (80,000 cv).
We appreciate your consideration, cooperation, and assistance in facilitating timely review and approval of the
revision application. After you have opportunity to review the accompanying information, please feel free to
contact me with any questions or to discuss submittal materials or related matters.
Best regards,
Twentymile Coal Company
Jerry M.
