Evans '~' ~
To calculate an approximate reclamation cost for the 4.4 acre stockpile
area added by amendment:
1. For ease of calculation, consider a rectangle 450' x 424'
2. The area can be cleared of stockpiled materials at no cost
3. The area will first need to be ripped to relieve compaction:
a D-9 can puZZ a single ripping tooth penetrating Z2" at approximately
1 mph.; we will consider using a D6 pulling 3 teeth penetrating 8"
on 24" centers
71 passes x 450' long x half as fast x % min turnaround
450'
71 x (44fpm + •25 min) = 12.4 hrs.
figure 2 full days to cover slack time and transportaion @ $800 per day
plus $15/hr for an operator - $1840.00
4. Assuming the topsoil can be replaced at a cost of $80/lcg,
5.80 x (6" x 4.4 Rc) - $2840
5. Seedbed preparation would require a tractor for about 4 hours @ S12/hr
plus $10/hr for an operator - $88
6. Using the operator's estimate for fertilization, mulching and seeding
of $600
7. The total adds up to $5400
/mab
