Long
Division Due~lui
I have reviewed the responses from NCEC to the initial adequacy
comments sent out on May 27, 1994. The following areas still
require additional information or clarification.
SEED MIX
1. As I stated before the seed mix for the rangeland areas should
be the EXACT one found in the permit application in table 4.4-3b on
page 4-58 of volume one of the permit application. I have attached
a copy for your reference. The operator indicated that no shrubs
would be planted however I do not believe that this proposed
deletion was ever approved. The success standards indicate that
they will have shrubs and they are in the approved seed mix. It
may be appropriate on a site this small to delete the shrub
standard, however, the Division of Wildlife will need to concur on
this decision.
The proposed species in the pastureland seed mix are acceptable,
however, the seeding rate is way too high. The seed mix should be
given in pounds of Pure Live Seed/acre (# PLS/Ac) and the rates
should be as follows;
# PLS/AC
Orchard grass- 1.5
Smooth brome- 1
Timothy- 1
Alfalfa- 3
Rates should be doubled if broadcast seeding is utilized.
LAND USE
2. The land use designation still requires some work. The
proposed land use that was submitted as figure 4.7-3 indicates that
all of the post-mining landuse is pastureland which does not
