Long <br />Divisl^^ Duecmr <br />Denver, CO 80202-5733 <br />Re: Seneca II-W (Permit No. C-1982-057) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 34 (TR-34) <br />Auger Mining <br />Dear Mr. Johnston: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on April 17, 2000, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Seneca Q-W was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by <br />Seneca Coal Company. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from <br />this date of filing. <br />Seneca Coal Company is proposing to utilize auger mining methods at the final highwall recovery line to increase <br />the recovery of existing coal reserves. <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 9 miles south of Hayden. The permit area is <br />further described as follows: <br />TSN, R88W; All of Section 15; Portions of SeMions 9, 10, 11, 14, 16, 21, 22 and 23 <br />T6N, R88W; Portions of Sections l4, 23 and 24 <br />T6N, R87 W; Portions of Sections 17, 18, l9 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Hayden Gulch. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Routt County Courthouse, Box <br />773598, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide <br />written comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that <br />comments be submitted within fifteen (15) days of this letter.
