Long
Division Director
This letter is to inform you that the Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology has received a bond release request for the North
Thompson Creek Mines. The site for which the bond release is being
requested is the Diamond A Parcel of the unit train loadout. The
site is located in Garfield County in that portion of the permit
area located north and east of the center of the Roaring Fork River
in Township 7 South, Range 88 West, 6th Prime Meridian, Section 20,
Lots 10, 11, 12, 15 and 16, and Section 29, Lots 2, 3 and 4.
MINREC, Inc. had requested that the Division release the entire
bond for the Diamond A Parcel, thereby reducing the bond for the
unit train loadout site from $92,720 to $15,453. The bond release
was requested concurrently with a request for a technical revision
to remove the Diamond A Parcel from the permit area, because the
post-mining land use has already begun to be implemented on the
Diamond A Parcel.
The Division is required to conduct a bond release inspection
pursuant to Rule 3.03.2(2). The inspection will be held on
November 15, 1993. The surface owner and agent or lessee may
participate with the Division in making the inspection. If such
parties are interested, please contact me at (303) 866-3567 X353.
Sincerely,
Barbara L. Pavlik
Environmental Protection Specialist
